Before Wax/ Sugar Tips
-
Hair should be at least ¼ inch long.
-
Ideally do not shave from 10-14 days before your appointment.
-
Do not use any lotions or creams on the areas to be waxed.
-
Reduce or avoid caffeine on the day of your appointment as it stimulates the nervous system, making you more sensitive.
-
A pain reliever/anti-inflammatory that works for your body can be taken 30 minutes prior to your appointment.
-
For your safety, you must inform us if you have been on any skin medications. These can cause a severe negative reaction, or lift your skin if you are taking acne medications including but not limited to Accutane, Antibiotics, Differin, Retin-A/Retinol or any other skin thinning medication. Ideally if using Retin-A, or Differin, stop using 3 days prior to a wax. If you have used Accutane in the past 6 months you may not be waxed or sugared.
-
Feel free to keep your appointment if you happen to be on your period. Please wear a tucked in tampon.
-
Avoid sun bathing and tanning bed within 24 hours of waxing or sugaring, before or after.
Post Wax/ Sugar Tips
-
A cold shower is the best post waxing or sugaring!
-
Avoid exercise, hot bath/shower, sauna, steam, hot tub, pools and beaches 24 hours after waxing. Sweating can irritate the skin after waxing.
-
Keep hands from touching freshly waxed skin, minimizing chances of skin irritation.
-
Daily exfoliation between treatments is recommended to prevent ingrown hairs. I recommend dry body brushing as the best method of exfoliation beginning 48 hours after your wax or sugar. Use the dry brush in gentle a strokes with the same direction that the hairs grow.
-
Avoid tight clothing after waxing or sugaring. Tight clothing may result in irritation and ingrown hairs.
-
Avoid the sun immediately after waxing or sugaring for at least 24 hours and please wear a mineral sun screen.
